Chapter-1 Anthem

Chapter one of the book Anthem by Ayn Rand was a great introduction to the world which she has created in this classic novella. My first reaction to the first few pages of the book was something like "This dude talks to himself way to often", because I didn't really understand the pronouns of the story at this point. Of course, I re-read it twice over to get a full understanding. It struck me that most of the the first chapter is a shot at religion. I mean the first words of the book are "IT IS A SIN TO WRITE THIS." This is obviously pointed towards anything which means we are more important than you. The words cut in marble are like the ten commandments, only shortened to three sentences. The government in Anthem is an extreme form of bureaucracy or the caste system. It has a somewhat original story in my opinion, of a man who is assigned a job, hates it secretly, and seeks to change it for the the better. This had to be a refreshing read for the time frame in which it came out.
